Klondike and Bean Hole Bake 2015
On February 21st, Troop 102 Chopmist attended the 2015 Klondike Campout and Bean hole Bake at Camp Champlin. Although the weather was supposed to be sub-zero temperatures, the troop was able to successfully fend against the cold weather as they shoveled snow to dig out a campsite and slept in tents on top of hay. The next morning, despite the cold weather, we had high hopes for the days events. Many of the stations were good scout skills, such as fire building, wood plitting and my personal favorite, knot tying. The troop had a great lunch courtesy of Mr. Berek. The troop went back out after that to finish the events. After the stations, the sled race was held. Both patrols did great, even if we didn't come in first. After a day of fighting cold temperatures and competing in Scout like events, it was time to go home. The troop accomplished and learned a lot this weekend, and all in all it was a great campout.
