Memorial Day Parade 2015
On May 25th, Troop 102 Chopmist participated and marched in Scituate's annual Memorial Day parade to honor fallen veterans. Even though it was very hot, the residents of Scituate could still count on us being in the parade and seeing us look our best. Although we were missing a few of our numbers, we still looked like the sharpest troop walking down Main Street. After our march through the streets of North Scituate, we listened to some inspirational and eye opening speeches about eye witness accounts of fallen soldiers that payed the ultimate sacrifice for our country. This showed us that the real meaning of Memorial Day is not beaches, parties and a day off school or work. The true meaning of Memorial Day is remembering and continuing to remember the soldiers who have fought for our country, and not just once a year, but every single day. There were some extraordinary speeches, especially by John Loughlin. We also saw the opening of our Blue Star Garden Memorial. The town installed some more monuments, a memorial garden, and stepping stones to commemorate fallen soldiers from Scituate. They also unveiled the new Blue Star Memorial marker. All in all, the parade was well attended and the citizens once again saw the sharpest looking troop participate in another successful parade.
